Heat illness prevention
Heat illness prevention plan
A heat illness prevention plan is a written employer plan to find heat hazards, control them, train workers, name who supervises daily, and respond fast to illness.
A heat illness prevention plan is the written plan an employer uses to keep workers safe in the heat. OSHA says employers should create one. It should name who oversees heat controls each day, how new workers build tolerance, and how first aid and calls for medical help work.
It should also cover which engineering controls and work practices apply, how heat is measured, what to do on an NWS heat advisory, and what training workers and supervisors get. Temporary workers and people back from long leave need closer supervision. Build yours with acclimatization, water, rest, shade and a toolbox talk. See the employer heat program guide.
