Magnesium

Magnesium is a mineral that helps more than 300 enzyme systems in the body, including those for muscle and nerve function. It is also an electrolyte.

Magnesium is an abundant mineral in the body. The NIH Office of Dietary Supplements says it is a cofactor in more than 300 enzyme systems. These include protein synthesis, muscle and nerve function, blood glucose control and blood pressure regulation.

In a hydration product, it sits beside sodium and potassium as part of the electrolyte mix. Rapid Restoration Drops list magnesium (from electrolyte complex) at 90 mg per 1 tsp serving on the label. Workers with kidney problems or on medicines should ask a doctor before using any supplement. See electrolytes 101 for more.
